Straker Systems Ltd has worked for several years with Tilhill Economic Forestry Ltd, the UK's largest private forestry company, providing services to owners of some 200,000 hectares of woodland. Tilhill is a subsidiary of the UPM-Kymmene Group based in Finland. Straker has provided development and maintenance of their main forestry database system and their lot costing system.
We are currently working closely with Tilhill , as part of their e-business strategy, to develop a system to integrate weighbridge data with their main database system. This development work will be using the new industry standard as its core (CITE XML).
The Scottish Forestry Industries Cluster e-business strategy has identified the following key issues for the forestry industry:
- Financial management
- Ease of doing business
- Stock management
- Logistics
- Information standards
- Security & traceability.
Straker is in a strong position to help companies address these issues, helping to reduce costs and increase competiveness.
